Dorcas is the very definition of introverted. She does much better when left to her own devices than she does if she’s forced to mingle with a group. She has very little patience for idiocy or human error and uses sarcasm as a second language. This isn’t exactly a way for her to make friends, but for so long it’s been all about work and the war that it didn’t seem to matter much. She tends to be the reason people stereotype Ravenclaws as anti-social, arrogant, defensive, over-acheivers. She was the girl in the library until two minutes before curfew every night of the week, working on schoolwork that hadn’t even been assigned yet. She was also the girl who, if disturbed by some imbecile who thought it wise to talk to her during this time, responded in kind with whatever insult was on the tip of her tongue, and if the hint wasn’t gotten, whatever hex she found interesting enough to try out.
She’s very closed off and defensive of her private business. She generally doesn’t open up to anyone, and hates to come across as weak. The only time anyone gets glimpses of her, is when she’s half in the bottle and a complete mess. She smokes like a fiend and when she can, she goes out and drinks simply to take the edge off. She’s aware of just what it can do to her body, but she doesn’t care. She’s lived through enough to figure it’s not going to be the smoke that kills her.
Dorcas’s major personality flaw is that deep down, despite everything, she still cares. It’s what separated her from her father, and it’s what linked her so closely with her mother. She still cares and she can’t detach herself from that feeling. She tried to not care about walking out on her family, but every time she sat alone in her flat her thoughts strayed to her father, who wasn’t affectionate in anyway, but he was still her father. She still felt like she owed him something. She tries very hard to hide the fact that she does, in fact, have a soul because of how badly it hurt to find out that her father didn’t. She didn’t ever want to turn around and regret trusting someone the way she trusted her family and ‘friends’ to protect her.

Appearance: She’s average height, standing around 5’7”. Long brown hair that she doesn’t tend to style much, not really caring. She’s an attractive girl, with society features and if she’d bothered more to dress herself up and do her makeup, she could be a catch. She’s got icy blue eyes that tend to send a chill if she’s feeling angry enough.

Desired PB: Eva Green, Michelle Monaghan, Shannon Sossoman

History: Dorcas was incredibly close to her mother. Both of her parents were pure and the victims of a loveless arranged marriage. Where Evelyn was concerned, purists were a bit batty. She wasn’t all too concerned with blood purity and she taught as much to her baby girl. Henry, on the other hand was very purist in his attitudes towards others. He was open about it, as any proud, wealthy, pureblood would be, and he also openly scorned his wife’s idealistic thoughts on the world. Dorcas’s childhood consisted of watching the growing battle between mother and father. Evelyn was more open to new ideas. She let Dorcas be herself and think for herself, where as Henry insisted that she abide by social restrictions and rules. Dorcas was forced to attend numerous Pureblooded functions, where she was stuffed into horrific (at least to her) dress robes and made a spectacle of in front of her peers. During these functions, she tended to avoid actually having to socialize with her peers as much as she possibly could. The only time she interacted with anyone was when it was arranged by her father, or someone was attempting to save her from some horrid matchup. Regulus Black was frequently the one to cut in when he saw that Dorcas was on her very last good nerve with some of the matchups her father would force her into. The pair had a sort of unspoken bond to look out for one another, without really getting along themselves.
Dorcas was sorted into Ravenclaw much to her mother’s delight. Henry would’ve preferred Slytherin, which the hat did consider, but Ravenclaw was at least a respectable house as well, unlike the blasted poufs in Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. Dorcas had a hard time getting on with the other students in her house since she was already intolerant of human error, even at age eleven. She excelled in all her classes except Herbology and Astronomy, though she did far worse in Herbology. Her third year she joined the Quidditch team as the seeker. Her mother was very proud but her father didn’t see the point. It wasn’t proper for a girl to be playing sports if she was to get a proper husband. It seemed that would be the least of her worries though. Just before school started her father disobeyed the newly rising Voldemort. As punishment, Dorcas’s mother was murdered. This devastated the girl and forced her to be even more socially withdrawn. She didn’t talk about what happened with anyone at school and if it was brought up in conversation, she either simply walked away or changed the subject so abruptly that it made people’s heads spin.
It was not only the murder that set her against the Death Eaters, but also the added blow of her father’s indifference to losing his wife. She couldn’t comprehend how despite being at constant odds with the woman, her father could be so callous and neutral about her death. When she left school, Dumbledore himself tapped her to be in the Order of the Phoenix. He knew about what had happened with her mother and helped her to get her job in the Ministry in the Department of Mysteries as an Unspeakable in training. She was certainly smart enough and determined enough for the position and she could do great things for both the Order and the Ministry from there. She fought valiantly during the war and had a few close calls but ultimately made it through. She grew closer to some members of the Order, but generally stuck to herself. She had a personal score to settle with the man who had the audacity to call himself her father.
After the retreat of the Death Eaters in ’78, Dorcas learned that her father was still alive and doing well, considering. This forced her to dive into her work more and more, not for a moment allowing herself to focus on her anger. She took to lurking in the bars on the days she didn’t have work and found herself thinking too much for her own good. Dorcas still has quite a bit of trouble with the having fun part of life and is still just as work obsessed as ever.
